exposure as a metaphor

  1. I really like your fourth image. Im not quite sure what it is, but it gives me a metallic/hard metal vibe and it has a nice aesthetic to it. I also like your final image and the crop you used is very interesting.

  2. I think overall you did a nice job on some of these images. I like the "texture" of both the phone charger and the white wall in those two photos. Perhaps your white photos could have benefitted from more exposure when you took the images on your camera and additionally by upping the exposure in Lightroom. It is hard to tell which ones are meant to be the black and gray photos, however. I think playing around with the contrast and highlights in Lightroom would help to clarify and separate them better into the assigned categories. My understanding of the assignment is that the category color should dominate the overall photo with splashes of contrast to define the subject. This is especially true for the gray category, which is to be even more monochromatic. I also think that your photos could benefit from more risk taking in general. While I do like simplicity in photos, I think some of them lack the degree tension that compels the viewer to take a close second look to try to decipher what's going on in the photos. I would encourage you to look for and capture more of that tension while staying true to your defining style of streamlined and clean simplicity.
